Each and every Punknews story is built from tips contributed by you fine folks, and here's what got the community talking this week… The People Must Have Something Good To Read On A Sunday This week's most popular stories Now that they've left major label Epic Records, the Alkaline Trio intend to return to their roots. The band has announced plans to make a good ol' fashioned punk rock record again. Hardcore act Have Heart will call it quits after its world tour with Shipwreck A.D. wraps. Their last show will take place this October on National Edge Day. A fascinating interview with Fat Mike of NOFX wrapped up with a discussion of Fat Wreck Chords' future and their new pricing model. The Bouncing Souls have announced 20th anniversary shows featuring guests like 7 Seconds, Lifetime, None More Black and Tim Barry, along with a television special. Blink-182 further discussed their tour plans and preparation, finally unveiling dates and support from Weezer and Fall Out Boy.
American Steel have posted an update on their next full length for Fat Wreck Chords. The album is completed and will hit stores in late July. Rancid posted the first video from their forthcoming album Let the Dominoes Fall, showcasing the single "Last One to Die." Atreyu also premiered their video for "Blow." Details on the upcoming 2009 Joey Ramone Birthday Bash have been announced, with the show celebrating the late Ramones frontman to feature Fishbone, Supersuckers, and Death. The Lawrence Arms are still hinting at that show in October, among much blogging. Finally Rise Against won an award from PETA for being the "best animal Friendly band." Mike Herrera's Tumbledown
Today, we're happy to bring you a contest from Tumbledown. The band is a new side project from Mike Herrera of MxPx fame, but explores more of Mike's country influences. The The band's new record is titled Tumbledown and is due out May 19, 2009. Along with Mike, the record features guitarist Jack Parker, standup bassist Marshall Trotland, and drummer Harley Trotland. The album was recorded at Monkey Trench Studios, produced by Mike Herrera and mixed by Stephen Egerton (Descendents, All). We've got five prize packs to give away.
Shook Ones: European Quiz-O-Rama
Bellingham, WA's Shook Ones recently made a trip across the pond to Europe and compiled a collection of video footage which has been edited into a trivia contest. The first entry involves one of the biggest action movie stars. I'll give you a hint: he pulls his pants up high to not look so short. The band is preparing to release their new LP, The Unquotable A.M.H., via Paper+Plastick.
Moving Mountains: 'Foreword' test pressing Moving Mountains has been releasing their newest endeavor, Foreword, in all the standard formats. It hit the digital airwaves late last year, compact discs shortly thereafter, and this past week was finally issued on audiophiles' favorite: pristine wax. Since it's so fantastic, we're celebrating the release by giving away a rare test pressing to one lucky winner, as well as a CD copy to play in the car and a poster for your wall.
