The Sidekicks have announced their next album on Red Scare. The record is titled Weight of Air and is due out September 15, 2009 physically and September 1, 2009 digitally. The label has this to say about the record:
This latest effort from The Sidekicks is a real product of their environment and the vibrant underground music scene around them in Northern Ohio. Less raw and punky, Weight Of Air is a surprisingly sophisticated release from the young quartet, and this time they draw more from Midwestern indie-punk influences like the Replacements, the Weakerthans, and Promise Ring. Lots of instrumentation, mature songwriting, youthful energy, and some of THE catchiest hooks we've heard from any Red Scare band add up to an impressive follow-up. They may not be old enough to gamble and drink yet, but you can expect a lot more great music and great shows from these fresh-faced Clevelanders.
One of the songs, "Almost the Same," has also been freshly posted to their MySpace page.
