In a follow up to their earlier promise, Apple has opened up the specification for the "iTunes LP" format for anyone to roll their own enhanced albums. The LPs are enhanced digital albums sold in the company's iTunes store. They are built with standard web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and can contain graphics and video in addition to the music. Given the technologies involved, an experienced web developer should have the skill set to to produce an iTunes LP package. The point was to provide a more album-oriented experience than the current digital marketplace does now.

AFI's recent record Crash Love and Paramore's new album Brand New Eyes were among the first albums released in this format.
