Influential post-punk outfit Swans have announced a return to action. The band, who were originally together from 1982-1997, will enter the studio soon to record their first full-length since 1996's Soundtracks for the Blind. Frontman Michael Gira is currently demoing rough versions of new Swans songs; one of these demos, "Jim" can be heard at the band's MySpace page.

Before the new Swans record, a CD/live DVD combo from Gira titled I Am Not Insane will compile these acoustic versions as well as a live DVD of two solo shows in a hand-made package, sold in order to raise money for the new Swans recordings. These will be available soon from Young God Records.
