Though his future with the band was uncertain after his nasty bicycle accident, guitarist Ian MacDougall has apparently returned to the Riverboat Gamblers. MacDougall was hit by a car when riding home. He sustained some pretty heavy injuries including a broken hip, a broken wrist and hemorrhaging under the skull along with many lacerations, torn ligaments, bruises and and scrapes. He was rushed by ambulance to Brackenridge hospital in Austin and stayed in the Intensive Care Unit for two days.
He spoke to Austin 360 saying:
As soon as they put on a hard cast where I could move my fingers I asked them, 'Can I please have some freedom with my fingers?' I totally had to work them out one by one because they hadn't moved, so when I went home I tried it with a guitar and could make a chord sound. I thought, 'I could totally play a show right now.
