John Entwistle, bass player for The Who, died in Las Vegas today, Thursday the 27th, at age 57. This happens just one day before the band was set to begin their North American tour in the city. Entwistle died at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, an investigation was under way into the cause of death. Entwistle was born in the London suburb of Chiswick on October 9, 1944. The Who are down to just two original members, vocalist Roger Daltrey and guitarist Pete Townshend. Original drummer Keith Moon died of an accidental pill overdose in 1978. Entwistle's influence can be heard all over punk rock today. Matt Freeman of Rancid, for example, taught himself bass while playing along with The Who's "Live At Leeds." The bands' sound was also a major influence on the current garage-punk revival. Everyone here at Punknews.Org wishes our condolences. Everyone spin your favorite Who record tonight…
