Hello everyone and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back in the week in Punknews. I'm Bryne Yancey and I'll be your guide through some of the juiciest, most popular and otherwise noteworthy stories from the last seven days. Remember, every Punknews story is built from tips from our wonderful, good-looking readers, so get to submitting. Here's what got the strange, slow and old community talking this week:
- The Gaslight Anthem frontman Brian Fallon revealed some details on his new side project, The Horrible Crowes.
- Pacific Ridge Records is soliciting donations to complete an Alkaline Trio tribute album.
- Both Fat Mike and Bruce Springsteen will have guest spots on the upcoming Dropkick Murphys album, Going Out In Style. We can only hope that they appear on the same song, and that someone was in the studio taking video.
- Beloved midwestern emo outfit Braid will reunite for a new release.
- Rise Against and Face To Face will be covering each other on an upcoming split.
- Propagandhi, The Weakerthans, and Comeback Kid were among the artists protesting Enbridge's sponsorship of the planned Prairie Scene! festival in Ottawa.
- Lars Fredriksen (Rancid, Lars Fredriksen and the Bastards) revealed his latest project, The Old Firm.
With that, we hand over this Sunday evening to the Punknews community, where anything is possible, from the next amusing-then-overwrought meme, to the creation of bands and message boards, to alienating sports chatter. So talk amongst yourselves and we'll see you Monday morning.
