Anti Records, home to such legendary artists as Tom Waits, Merle Haggard, Solomon Burke and Daniel Lanois, is proud to announce a licensing agreement with UK label Mute for the acclaimed Australian band NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS. NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS will release their Anti debut in early 2003.

Anti president Andy Kaulkin declared, "We are so fucking proud and excited to have NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS on Anti. CAVE's voice sends shivers up my spine and THE BAD SEEDS are the sum total of everything great and mysterious about rock and roll."

Daniel Miller, Mute MD, also commented, "I'm very excited about this new relationship with Anti for NICK CAVE AND THE BAD SEEDS. I'm sure the affinity and enthusiasm the label has for the band will bring them to a far wider audience in North America."

Long considered one of the leading figures in alternative rock, CAVE's ever-evolving career has spanned over two decades. From his early days fronting goth pioneers The Birthday Party to his years with post-punk supergroup the BAD SEEDS, CAVE's engaging artistic vision and experimentalism has constantly challenged musical boundaries. His eclectic hybrid of blues, gospel, rock and dark pop combined with narrative prose, lyrics heavy on literary allusions and myth-making, has earned CAVE a reputation as an original interpreter and vocal stylist of note.

Finally, CAVE himself added, "I couldn't be more pleased to be working with Anti in North America."
