Last night, 30 Seconds to Mars picked up their 5th and 6th EMA awards in Belfast when they were announced the winners of the 2011 Best Alternative Award and Best World Stage. The European awards are chosen by MTV viewers throughout Europe and should be confused with the other EMA awards which are American and Environmentally themed.
More notably than that, was the band's induction into the Guinness Book of World Records; the band earned the placement in the book for the most shows played during a single album cycle. The band is about to complete their 300th performance in support of 2009's This Is War. According to their label, the band has been on the road non-stop since the album's release and have circled the globe multiple times over the last two years, playing over three hundred shows in almost sixty countries in six continents.
