Women's Wear Daily is reporting that Iggy Pop, legendary frontman of the Stooges, Bowie collaborator, and musician, is to be the face of Paco Rabanne's new fragrances called Black XS L'Excès. We understand that the line includes two scents, one aimed at men, and the other at women, with advertisements due to debut in France in January of 2012.
This is not the first time Iggy has ventured into the world of the advertising spokesperson in recent years. In 2009, he became the public face of the car insurer Swiftcover.com, in a campaign which became all but unavoidable for anyone in the UK who watches commercial television, or uses rail networks. Critics noted that Swiftcover did not insure musicians, a problem they quickly resolved when the Advertising Standards Authority censured them on the issue.
