Rancid (along with Quincy Jones, Tiësto, and Disturbed) have put together curated music channels for Swedish music startup Spotify. The band (and "friends") are planning to produce a playlist of music along with biographies, anecdotes and other details. Vocalist Tim Armstrong has promised to "use the picks to take fans on a trip to his personal record room to take a deep dive into the music that inspires him." He added:
I always want to share music with my friends and tell people about artists…both new and old. Nothing is more gratifying to me than turning people on to music and making it a part of their lives and then, them in turn, turning it onto other people. There is nothing like having music in common. We are truly looking forward to this whole thing.
For the first playlist, the four bands members chose Refused's The Shape of Punk to Come , Ramones' Leave Home, The Clash's Give 'Em Enough Rope, The Last Resort's Skinhead Anthems, Control's Punk Rock Ruined My Life, and X's Under the Big Black Sun.
If you have Spotify installed, you can see the channel here.
