Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:
Q: "Ramonescore". Not the "genre", but the word itself: Accurate and playful description of a bands sound? Or just an incredibly dorky, lazy, and just generally lame way to describe a bands sound?A: I wouldn't say it's a lazy way of describing a band's sound. It just helps separates certain pop punk bands from others. I always have a problem where people say they like pop punk and I say I do too. They then tell me their favorite pop punk bands which include stuff like Man Overboard, The Wonder Years, Fireworks, etc and I end up being disappointed because that's not the pop punk I like. I think those bands lean more towards the pop side of pop punk whereas Ramones-core bands lean more towards the punk side of pop punk because those bands obviously are using the pop punk formula that the Ramones made so popular. So, saying I like "Ramonescore" pop punk helps people from making crappy mixes for me.
(I am a complete sucker for "Ramonescore" pop punk)
