Hello everyone and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back in the week in Punknews. I'm Brittany Strummer and I'll be your guide through some of the juiciest, most popular and otherwise noteworthy stories from the last seven days. Remember, every Punknews story is built from tips from our wonderful, good-looking readers, so get to submitting. Here's what got the strange, slow and old community talking this week:
- We compiled Best of the Year lists from some very special guests. You can check them all out here.
- Lostprophets vocalist, Ian Watkins, is being held in custody for alleged sex offenses.
- In other news of band members getting in trouble with the law, Bury Your Dead guitarist, Eric Ellis, was sentenced to 20 years in prison for gang activity.
- Against Me! are, once again, looking for a new drummer as Jay Weinberg announced his departure this week.
- Jason Heller wrote a piece for the AV Club about what it's like to grow up with Jawbreaker.
- Rancid released a brand new song.
- The Punknews staff teamed up to share our stories and memories of the late, great Joe Strummer to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his passing.
With that, we hand over this Sunday evening to the Punknews community, where anything is possible, from the next amusing-then-overwrought meme, to the creation of bands and message boards, to alienating sports chatter. So talk amongst yourselves, spin some tracks in the Navel Gazing turntable.fm room and we'll see you Monday morning.
Happy holidays from everyone at Punknews!
