MTVNews is reporting that Joe Strummer's final studio recordings will be released on an as-yet-untitled album in May as a follow up to 2001's "Global A Go-Go" (review). While many of the songs for the record will be from his final studio sessions with the Mescaleros, Epitaph has indicated that some material Joe recorded outside the band may also be used. This includes a track titled "Long Shadow" that Strummer recorded with Beck / Johnny Cash guitarist Smokey Hormel. The Mescaleros will enter a studio within a week to determine which tracks have completed vocals and start mixing the album. The former Clash singer/guitarist passed away on December 22 at the age of 50.
