Mike D. of the Beastie Boys has helped give away 19,000 free meals since Hurricane Sandy hit his native New York last fall. Along with restaurateur friend Robert McKinley, they have partnered with some of New York's most renowned chefs to create the free food truck - Rockaway Plate Lunch. The project serves the Rockaway Beach community six days a week, serving approximately 500 people each day.
