Happy Friday, y'all. Our final two reviews of the week are up and available for your digestion and/or ambivalence. They're also for a pair of reissues!
First, John Gentile talks up the Southern Records reissue of Rudimentary Peni's Cacophony reissue:
Cacophony is a series of riddles and pathways that wrap around themselves, double back, and sometimes don't lead to anywhere. But what makes the secret of the album most appealing is that within the intertwined messages, it seems that there has to be a core idea, no matter ultimately horrifying.
Second, Joe Pelone revisits the Bouncing Souls' Green Ball Crew E.P. , recently reissued by Chunksaah Records:
While Green Ball Crew is not nearly as terrible as the band members have claimed, it sounds very much like a precursor to what became the Souls' debut full-length, The Good, The Bad, and The Argyle. It's sloppy and loose but still pretty fun.
