Hello everyone and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back in the week in Punknews. I'm Brittany Strummer and I'll be your guide through some of the juiciest, most popular and otherwise noteworthy stories from the last seven days. Remember, every Punknews story is built from tips from our wonderful, good-looking readers, so get to submitting. Here's what got the strange, slow and old community talking this week:
- We hosted a live Q&A with the great Jesse MIchaels whose impressive resume includes Operation Ivy, Big Rig, Common Rider, and Classics of Love. He also is an author and you can read an excerpt from his new book right here.
- Ms. Amanda Kirk, who is the brilliant artist behind Nation of Amanda, was the first installment in our Rad Women Who Make Rad Art feature.
- Fall Out Boy released another chapter in their Young Blood saga in the form of "The Mighty Fall".
- We tallied your favorite records from August with Cleveland, OH's Worship This! leading the pack closely followed by Superchunk ad Dan Vapid and the Cheats.
- Polar Bear Club released a new song song from their forthcoming release, Death Chorus, and also revealed the dates for a headlining tour.
- The legendary Pixies are back and released a new song to prove it.
With that, we hand over this Sunday evening to the Punknews community, where anything is possible, from the next amusing-then-overwrought meme, to the creation of bands and message boards, to alienating sports chatter. So talk amongst yourselves, spin some tracks in the Navel Gazing turntable.fm room and we'll see you Monday morning.
