Today's first new review is from Renaldo Matadeen, who likes Placeholder's I Don't Need Forgiveness:

"Above" is unrestrained and for someone like me who took a lot to Daylight's and Citizen's records this year, it sticks perfectly. The emo-punk undertones amid the melodic craft that Placeholder shells out so well and Brandon Gepfer's vocals juxtapose in the most fitting manner.

Then, John Gentile fires up his DVD player for a viewing of The Stranglers' On Stage, On Screen:

The set finds the band returning to their original inspirations. In lieu of synth-driven mid-tempo pieces, they race through their tracks, likely channeling the same drive as the original rock 'n rollers. Original members J.J. Burnel and Jet Black are firmly in the driver seat, pushing the band along at a rapid pace that equals or even rivals their earliest live takes.
