Wire have released one of the songs from their upcoming reissue of 1981's Document and Eyewitness. While the album is a set of tracks recorded on three '80s-era live dates, this track never appeared on any of Wire's studio recordings, but definitely feels like it would fit on 1979's 154.
The centerpiece of the original vinyl release was a recording of the concert at the Electric Ballroom that grew out of the band's performance art-based residency at the Jeannetta Cochrane Theatre the previous November.
Delivering a traditional rock gig -- or even fully realized songs, for that matter -- was not a priority at the Electric Ballroom, and Wire's set was composed of largely new (and often under-rehearsed) work, accompanied by a series of artistic actions and interventions. The reissue is out August 19, 2014.
