A petition has been created to get Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace a cameo in the next Star Wars film. Grace even tweeted that she did in fact sign it. As of this afternoon, the petition has nearly 3,500 signatures.
You can follow the campaign with the hashtag #TrueTransForceRebel and you can find the petition here.
You can read the description and goal of the petition below.
Following a friendly exchange, the official Star Wars twitter account called transgender musician and activist Laura Jane Grace a “True Trans Force Rebel†- a reference to her hit song ‘True Trans Soul Rebel’. Let’s make it official. Let’s join together and urge the forces behind Star Wars Episode 8 to give Laura Jane Grace a cameo in the film - making her the first openly trans person to be featured in the Star Wars franchise. Putting LJG in the film would be a hugely inspirational message for young people in the queer community - that the galaxy is truly inclusive and that anyone can become one with the Force.
Laura Jane Grace is indeed a Star Wars fan. She tweeted the following earlier today as well:
My first tattoo was a Crass Logo. I covered that up with a rebel alliance logo for my second tattoo. I was 15. @starwars #StarWars
