A house where the Sex Pistols lived and recorded music in the '70s, located at 6 Denmark Street in London, has been given a special historical designation by the British government. The designation, as noted by The Guardian , "officially [recognizes the building] as a 'particularly important building of more than special interest'." In contrast to this attempt to memorialize punk history in the U.K., Joe Corré, son of Sex Pistols' manager Malcolm McLaren, recently vowed to burn his private collection of inherited punk memorabilia later this year in protest of the government's recent rising interest in the preservation of punk history in the U.K.
