We recently received an interview with Bullet Train To Vegas via our news submissions form by an anonymous contributor. Click READ MORE to read about the band's past, present, and future, as well as just what it felt like to egg Arnold Schwarzenegger.
We also reviewed the band's debut EP a little while ago; click here to read a review of it.
NAME, AGES, AND RESPECTIVE INSTRUMENTS?
Dan Sena provides the blare, wail, and howl. Toby Sterret adds some thud, boom, and thump. Marty Cornish has the role of clang, smash, and rumble. Jeb Sprague brings the roar, twist, and rattle. Our combined age is slightly less then 100 years old.
HOW DID YOU GUYS FORM?
From the energy or lack there-of and experiences of orange county, california- Dan Sena thought something new was in order. After the demise of give until gone and adamantium he needed something else. now we have expanded our feet into long beach and hollywood.
DOES THE NAME OF YOUR BAND HAVE A SIGNIFICANT MEANING?
There was a failed attempt by certain murky sectors in the business world to build a high speed rail transport from Los Angeles to the sin city; Las Vegas. We see this as one of the few good ideas corporate land developers have ever had in our local area. Our name has little significance other then that it depicts high speed motion towards the capitol of debauchery, self-indulgence, and avarice. Not to mention it was the name of a drive like jehu song.
HOW DO YOU GUYS WRITE SONGS? WAS THEIR ANY CERTAIN PROCESS YOU HAD FOR MAKING THE NEW ALBUM?
After spending the night painting over billboard signs and defacing corporate art we search for the perfect chords that provoke that same kind of adrenalin.
LYRICALLY ARE THEY BASED FOR YOUR LIFE?
Lyrics are direct representations of the commotion and errors of everyday life. If they were not based on everyday life then what would they be based upon? Dreams and illusions? We leave illusions to the commercials and the institutions that are in that market. We only want your ears, even if its just for a whisper.
WHEN YOU PLAY LIVE DO YOU RELIVE THAT MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE AT ALL WHEN YOU WROTE THE SONG?
Each song has a specific moment in time when it felt like the right thing to do. from time to time these moments reemerge. playing live is an experience in itself which brings new meaning to each song played live.
WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT BEING IN A BAND?
Musicians are ego yearning self consumed individuals. if we can for just one second not be that stereotypical musician and instead provide something without taking anything and open peoples ears to new ideas and energy then we have accomplished something. ideas without energy are a waste of time. as is energy without ideas. although, the two combined can be a dangerous weapon.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU DO SPECIAL THAT MAKES YOUR LIVE SHOW DIFFERENT FOR THE REST? IF SO WHAT?
Well of course we inject our own unique brand of hysteria. Sometimes we do back flips, vanish into thin air, and throw splinters. no animals are harmed.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE CDS RIGHT NOW?
Dan Sartain "Dan Satrain Vs the Serpentines", Heroin "Destination", Q and not U "Different Damage", The Gossip "Movement", everything by the almighty Ink & Dagger , The Plot to blow up the eiffel tower, and of course both the albums from this band from San Diego called Hot Snakes and drive like jehu as always man..
IF YOU COULD GIVE ME ANY ADVICE WHAT WOULD IT BE?
take back your visual environment - make a mark on your town. as far as output, anything is better then nothing.
WHAT IS WORTH MORE TO YOU THE ACTUAL EXPERIENCE OR THE MEMORY THAT REMAINS WHEN THE EXPERIENCE IS OVER?
every second is an experience, so even taking the time to remember something is an experience. although we concede, some experiences are more memorable then others. Throwing eggs at Arnold Schwarzenegger is always fun.
AND LASTLY, IS THERE ANYTHING THAT I FORGOT TO ADD THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO? AND PLUGS?
We currently have out a 6 song cd entitled "Profile This" out on Letterbomb Recordings. We roamed around the nation this summer, during July and August. The tour was titled "To Melmac and Back" in homage to Americaâs favorite puppet ALF. We plan to tour again soon. Check out our website at www.bullettraintovegas.com for tour dates. We plan to record a two song 7" in late September of two thousand three with the almighty Vic Dicara, of Inside Out and 108. We have at least a dozen new songs - so soon after that we hope to record a full length- hopefully out before or soon after the end of this year. after demoing everything we'll search out the perfect label who will best understand or ramblings. Folks, the claw is coming down from the mountain.
