to tell us that Milwaukee-based Forstella Ford has called off their upcoming US tour and disbanded the group permanently after a brief reunion and lineup change. A thorough statement has been posted on their website. If you don't feel like leaving the comfort of the 'Org, just click READ MORE for the statement.
What follows is something I truly do not want to have to write, and it comes after some rather in-depth conversations Iâve had with Nick throughout the past couple of days. That having been said, Iâm writing to inform everyone that the impending Forstella Ford tour is canceled, and the band is utterly and eternally defunct. Iâm writing now what should have been written back in July, when we feel the band actually met its end.
The original concern was one of being unprepared for a tour when the end of December rolled around. The cold hard truth is that practices are just not taking place, and that time is swiftly running out.
We were also concerned because, while Kevin is an amazing drummer, he cannot and does not wish to play double bass drum parts. That is understood and respected by all of us, but it also means that we be incapable of playing certain songs we consider vital to a Forstella Ford set.
There was also a realization that Forstella Ford is not Forstella Ford without Whitney Teska. Whitney has moved on. Whitney is no longer into the style of music that we play, and is extremely busy with school and work. The obvious thing for us to do - after having been friends for so long - is to stand by him in his decisions.
What it comes down to is that we wanted so desperately to tour and to be in a band that we were in denial of the demise of Forstella Ford. For that - for leading everyone on - we are sorry.
Good-bye and thank you, everyone.
