Marky Ramone spoke with Billboard on his upcoming plans, including the Marky Ramone and Friends mini-tour. Marky commented "I've been getting so much email and things from kids saying, 'Why don't you come out and play some Ramones songs?' because a lot of them were too young to see the Ramones. So I figured I would put something together, do a few shows, have some fun and make some Ramones fans happy."
The two shows take place on January 15th in Detroit at Alvin's and January 17th in Cleveland at the Beachland Ballroom. Marky recently performed Ramones material at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with C.J. Gunn (guitar), Aaron Dowell (bassist) and David Divine (singer) sitting in. According to the drummer, Ramones guitarist Johnny Ramone is no longer interested in playing music and won't be participating. A full-fledged tour will be in the works if reaction to these shows is positive.
In addition, Marky is writing a book about his experience in the New York punk scene and is planning to work on a second posthumous Joey Ramone solo album. The follow-up to 2002's Don't Worry About Me [review] will likely be the result of 12 demo tracks that Joey recorded with producer Daniel Rey and, according to Billboard, will be out sometime this year on an unannounced label.
