Bankshot! Records has signed Brooklyn's Stockyard Stoics (featuring current and former members of The Readymen, Morning Glory, The Rickets, and the X-Possibles). The label will release their sophomore album Catastrophe on August 3rd. It was recorded over two weeks in Arizona this past May and includes their first new material since their self titled debut in 2002. The Stoics play reggae influenced punk and hardcore in the vein of The Clash or The Ruts. Mr. Bankshot commented: "Honestly, we couldn't be happier about this. The Readymen and the Rickets were both hugely influential bands in their time, and the Stoics are probably the most popular punk band in Brooklyn today. This is a band with tons of integrity. I know them personally and I can tell you they practice what they preach. They lead the life they're singing about in these songs."
You can download two songs now from the Bankshot! website. These include the new album track "Occupational Hazards" and "USA" from the compilation Mass Destruction [review]
