Early on August 1st, about 20 minutes outside of Salt Lake City, The Virus blew a tire and rolled their van and trailer. No one was thrown from the van but drummer "Black" Jon Emanuel and their roadie Dave Shumate were both injured. All band members were treated in a local hospital and released, with Jon in a neck brace and severly bruised. Shumate's arm was not broken, but is in a sling and unusable. The remaining members of the band and their tour manager Matt Bedford all suffered minor cuts and bruises.
Though shaken The Virus are in good spirits and will be continuing their tour. The accident occurred during the fourth week of their nine week tour with Clit 45 and Complete Control. The drummers of the support acts will be filling in for Jon and the tour with all three bands will resume on August 6th in Seattle at Graceland. No shows are being cancelled but unfortunately The Virus will not be able to make the upcoming dates in Western Canada. Tour dates can be found on the bands' websites.
