Billboard has announced a number of musicians who will perform as part of the Ramones' 30th anniversary party on September 12 at the Avalon Theatre in Hollywood, California. Performers include Rancid's Tim Armstrong, Black Flag's Henry Rollins, Bad Religion's Brett Gurewitz, The Sex Pistols' Steve Jones, Blink 182's Mark Hoppus, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones' Dickie Barrett, Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Red Hot Chili Peppers members Flea and John Frusciante, Pete Yorn, Rooney's Robert Carmine and producer Daniel Rey. The guests will perform along with Marky and C.J. Ramone at the event.
The sold out show is being opened by The Dickies and "two very special unmentionable bands" according to RamonesWorld. Along with the live performances the evening will include a "once in a lifetime exhibition of Ramones memorabilia." The Avalon (then called The Palace) was the location of the Ramones' final show in 1996. Proceeds from the bash will be donated to the Lymphoma Research Foundation and the Cedars-Sinai Prostate Cancer Research Centre.
