Sunday at the second annual Harvest of Hope Fest was, as most final days of festivals are, bittersweet. Saturday's awesomeness was going to be difficult to top, but the bands on Sunday rose to the occasion.
Saturday at Harvest of Hope Fest was a drier, more action-packed day than Friday, with solid bands playing on five stages wall-to-wall, from 11 AM to 11 PM. I spent all day watching as many of them as I could, and documenting it with my camera and my brain.
Friday at the second annual Harvest of Hope Fest has come and gone, but not without a lot of loud bands, some anxious kids, and a metric buttload of mud. What bands did I watch? How many near-death experiences did I have? How many gross band dudes did I drink after?
The Menzingers continue to keep Punknews updated on the recording of their second full length (their first since 2007's A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology). This time singer/guitarist Greg Barnett talks about branching out on the new record, touring with Anti-Flag, and six degrees of separation from Billy Corgan.
In support of his latest album, Napalm and Nitrogen, and the World Bicycle Relief, Aaron Scott has taken to touring the East Coast of America on the "Ditch the Van" tour. Scott has been keeping Punknews updated with a series of Dispatches, the latest of which focuses on what can make or break a show, the unifying art of the cover song and the real value of a dollar.
To celebrate the New Year, Scranton, PA's The Menzingers are taking time to record the second full length (the follow up to 2009's critically acclaimed Hold on Dodge [7 inch] and 2007's A Lesson in the Abuse of Information Technology). The boys have been kind enough to keep us abridged of the situation with some studio updates, the first of which is by drummer Joe Godino. In it Joe goes over the excitement of recording, their plans for the next few weeks and perhaps shares a little more than he should with the reading audience.
As Aaron Scott's solo project Attica Attica got ready to release its second abum, Napalm & Nitrogen (available here), Scott decided to take a fairly unorthodox approach to touring. Scott along with some friends will be touring down the East coast on their bikes. The tour, entitled "Ditch The Van" is being done to raise money for World Bicycle Relief. Scott has been providing Punknews with a series of Dispatches as he and his crew work their way through the tour.
