Cheetah Chrome talks A.I., the new Dead Boys album, and Jake Hout

It's been a rocky few weeks for Dead Boys. They just released a really good archive live album recorded in 1977… then, current singer Jake Hout quit the band saying that Cleopatra records wanted to use him as an A.I. model for new recordings featuring "Stiv Bators." Then, Cheetah Chrome of Dead Boys responded stating that no, they were not making a fake A.I. stiv album. But, Dead boys are releasing a collaborative album with Clem Burke, Glen Matlock, James Williamson. So, everything is in a state of chaos and everyone is arguing and no one seems to be explaining what exactly is going on.

To that end, Punknews' John Gentile spoke with Cheetah about the whole thing… about one hour ago. You can read that interview below.

Listen to the new track by Gus Baldwin and the Sketch!

Today we are thrilled to bring you the premiere by Austin-based Gus Baldwin and The Sketch! The song is called “Slacker’s Prom” and is off their upcoming debut album The Sketch which was recorded in one day at Studio 22 in Los Angeles by Joey Oaxaca. Speaking about the track Gus Baldwin said,

“‘Slacker’s Prom’ is about how attractive the cycle of procrastination into mania can be. It’s easy to put off so much until it’s too late and then spiral into a sense of fake productivity after being inactive for so long. I guess that’s how I felt when I started performing under my own name. It was never something I ever had the intention of doing, but after waiting around for so long in my old group trying to get my songs played, it felt good to try to get out as much as I could as quickly as possible. A bit of a cleansing for the soul."

The Sketch will be available everywhere on January 31 and you can pre-order it right here. Gus Baldwin and the Sketch will be touring the US in December. Listen to “Slacker’s Prom” below!

Listen to the new song by Pitter Patter!

Today we are thrilled to bring you a premiere of the new single by Pittsburgh-based indie emo band Pitter Patter! The song is called “Oh? Possum!” and is the band’s first single of 2024. Speaking about the track, vocalist and guitarist Seth Berkin said,

"The main message in this song is that some things are out of your control, aspects of life that are unfair, yet we are all here doing our best to make the most out of the life we are given. There are plenty of references to animals woven throughout the track. Possums are exterminated, run over by cars, and overall have a tough time coexisting with humans. When I wrote the song, I too was struggling to coexist with humans as I was dealing with extreme anxiety,”

“Oh? Possum!” will be available everywhere on December 1. Listen to the new track below!
