Rational Anthem and Billy Raygun both have a few years under their respective belts, but they're both still pretty individually young bands. While they both produce fairly run-of-the-mill pop-punk for this split 7", they manage to grease the wheels efficiently.
Rational Anthem shotgun the A side with "Same Shirt, Different Day" and "Just Shrug". Particularly on the former track, they're like a slower, snottier version of the Dopamines. While the overall tone is a little rough and kind of nascent sounding, the band convey their stuff with a solid and convincing plow.
Billy Raygun aren't a far cry from what Rational Anthem do, but they sound a little looser in their approach. Save a lengthy solo in "Killjoy", I get a tiny bit of a Lookout!-era Green Day vibe on that song, while "Worst Day of My Life" goes on a faster, more rambunctious route. Not great, but definitely not bad either.
