Boys Night Out

Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses (2002)

One Day Savior

Boys Night Out seemed to be one of those bands where the members could never decide exactly what they kind of music to play, and instead of just voting and going for one type of music, they said "fuck it" and tried to combine emoish pop punk with metalish hardcore. It made me think of a hardcore Thursday, Glasseater, or Saves The Day meets the heavy parts of Avenged Sevenfold.

Overall I thought that this was a release that was a good album, with a lot of bad/boring parts that surrounded them. Many of the pop parts tend to be just too generic and sounded like I hard heard them somewhere before, while many times the metal parts got too metalish and began to resemble a metal band instead of a hardcore one. The few shining gems came during parts of the songs where it would be the transition from one form the other, and that was some good emotional hardcore/screamo or whatever it's called these days.

Not a bad first release, but I feel that this band could be better if it would trim the excess fat on both ends and become a streamlined. On the plus side, during the last song there is advice on how to avoid capture while killing multiple people, so I guess that's a positive, check this out if you're into bands emotional hardcore bands or if you are planning to become a serial killer.
