Bouncing Souls

live in Hoboken, NJ (2002)

live show

This show was kind of a secret show. It wasnt really advertised because it was a "student only" show. I still went down there with one of my buddies and was able to get in. The show took place in a small recreation room of the college which fit about 400 people. My guess would be that only about 200 were actually in attendance. At least 2/3 of the crowd didnt seem to know much about them but were simply there to hang out. Before the Souls took the stage I had no idea that I was about to witness the best performance I have ever seen from them. Ive seen them between 15 & 20 times and this was by far the best of all.

They took the stage at 9:30 and opened up with "that song". They followed into "cracked" and then played "true believers". After playing a couple more songs off the setlist, a bunch of us up front began screaming requests. At this point the band ripped up their setlists and tossed them into the crowd. They officially declared the show to be "all requests". I couldnt believe it because these guys always stick to basically a similar setlist at every show. We were screaming for old stuff and boy did they play the old stuff. They wasted no time and went right into "old school". From there they followed into "Neurotic" and then "I like Your Mom". At this point I knew how awesome this show was going to be. They played each and every request. When all was said and done they had played for an hour and a half, and belted out 30 songs!!! They closed their set with "Born To Lose" and Greg kicked over all the drums at the end of the song and walked off the stage. What an awesome end to an awesome night. I have listed all the songs they played . I dont remember the exact order but i tried my best.

"that song"
"cracked"
"hopeless romantic"
"true believers"
"no security"
"born free (new song)"
"new day (new song)"

"quickcheck girl"
"nerds, freaks, and romantics"

A lot of the older stuff was totally unrehearsed and they fucked up a ton of times, but that is what punk rock is all about. You could tell that they were having a blast taking requests and totally fucking around. It was an amazing show and definitely the best and most fun that I have seen them.
