Before you read on, keep in mind that I am a novice in the fields of both hardcore music and review writing. So, it was a little intimidating to have my first review be of a hardcore band.
In a nutshell, "Suffering the Loss" is chugga-chugga hardcore with lots of ridiculously fast double-bass and growly vocals that scream about "holding on" and things of that sort.
It's the classic recipe to a CD that you can throw in when you're riding in the car with a friend and rest assured that you're not gonna miss your favorite part on account of intense conversation. There aren't any incredibely captivating or technical passages that would require your full attention, but that doesn't make it bad.
In fact, there are plenty of good moments, including the ultra heavy and slow chug parts that feature predictable, yet enjoyable syncopations.
Really, the only thing I didn't enjoy is the fact that a few songs--including the last track on the CD--end with un-resolved fade-outs, giving the listener monster audio blue balls.
To give you the a taste of how akward that feels, I'm going to end the review... in about.... 3 seconds....
OK, it's over.
