On Friday, the Blood Brothers kicked off their summer US tour in none other than Minneapolis' own Triple Rock. The venue is relatively new and provides a perfect intimate setting for shows. The Blood Brothers took full advantage of this and rocked everyone's face off.

The first act was Start/Destruct. Apparently, they are a local band. They played 7 songs (I looked at the set list) and put on a relatively good show. The sound would have to be in the vein of At the Drive-In mixed with Q And Not U (No Kill No Beep Beep Era). I have to compliment the bassist on not giving up even though at the beginning his amp didn't work and he later broke a string on his bass. Also props to the band for having a badass keyboardist who played a small keyboard and his Farfisa at the same time, just like Axl would've wanted. 8.5/10.

Next up were the Chromatics. It's a guy/girl combo. Basically, the girl just played simple bass lines and the guy played guitar and sang. All of this happened over a drum machine. Unfortunately, it was as bad as it sounds. The music was monotonous and mellow and no one really got into it. They did have some cooler songs near the end when the guy took over on the bass and the girl played this weird flute-like thing. But overall, it was boring and most of the crowd used the time to converse. 5/10.

Kill Me Tomorrow was the next band to play. I had downloaded a couple of their MP3s before the show and was wondering how the songs would translate to a live setting, but they pulled off their industrial/punk sound quite well. Their setup was quite interesting. On the left side of the stage, their guitarist was surrounded by pedals and drum machines. At the center, there was a stand-up drum set and an expensive looking set of drum machines and synthesizers, which were used by their lead singer. Finally, their stunning bassist rounded out the line-up on stage right. Kill Me Tomorrow got the crowd more involved than the Chromatics. Many people in the audience were bobbing their heads, but this was not enough for KMT as the bassist reminded the audience to move more. Near the end of the set, the lead singer reminded the crowd to vote Dubya the fuck out of the office, which was nice. Songs I know that they played: "I Require Chocolate" "The Best Siren is a Flash Siren" "Skin's Getting Weird" and "This Is A Movie". 7.5/10.

Finally, it was time for the Blood Brothers to come on. As they played the first notes, all the apathy in the crowd disappeared. A huge push came up to the front, sending the speakers back. It was a Blood Fuckin Brothers show, the band moved, screamed, and did everything perfectly. One glitch came during Ambulance Vs. Ambulance when Jordan's microphone stopped working, but he quickly picked up another one and screamed along. I also had an issue with the set list. Though they played a lot of new songs which were good, I really wanted to hear "USA Nails" "Kiss of the Octopus" "Six Nightmares..." "I Know Where the Canaries and Crows Go." Oh well, they still kicked ass. 9.5/10

Here's the set list I took from the stage after the show:
Trash
Fucking's
Peacock
Feed Me
Guitarmy
Birth Skin
Apocalypse
B. Horses
Rats
Ambulance
Teen Heat
Jenn
Cecilia

Interesting thing about the set list is that it's written on the back of Mapquest directions from Seattle to Minneapolis. Apparently, it's 1661.40 miles.
