T.R.Y! splits a 7" with Memoirs and Landmines for this Intervention Records release.

The former do a fast and punk-tinged, semi-melodic hardcore thing somewhat along the Champion vein, but with less tuneful vocals. They're hardly terrible but a little rough and amateur-ish on these numbers--there isn't too much about their songs that are terribly distinct or ear-catching. The third of their three, "The Oak Tree" has a little more of a rock'n'roll flavor à la Suicide File or Nerve Agents; the only other time they make that trait apparent is for the riff-driven intro of opener "Desire to Endure." That song itself has some nice Stay Gold-ish tones about it, though, mixed with something a little more straightforward.

Memoirs and Landmines go on a more frumpy but still up-tempo and raw-edged, shout-along melodic punk tip. I get a slight early Bouncing Souls vibe from their pair of songs, mixed with the more anxious delivery of someone like Face to Face. Not bad, not great.
