• Teenage Bottlerocket have headed to the Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO to record their new album.
• Green Day will be inducting Guns 'n Roses at this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame awards.

Q: I've always wondered, what kind of people are the people that spend a few hundred bucks or more on a punk 7" record on eBay. Rich people? Execs? The independently wealthy? Hardcore nerds?

A: Good question….I have no idea. I am a big fan of vinyl and for a good number of years was a "collector". I had only a few bands I actively collected but among them was Dead to Me and American Steel. Both had records I needed (their first LP, on clear vinyl for DTM) but both went for insane amounts on ebay, at the time. I could never get myself to spend more than $45 and both went for over $100. So, I don't know who would value a record (rare or otherwise) so much.

The main thing is, not to look down on these people. The knee-jerk reaction is to assume that because someone spends a lot of money on a record that they don't need (because the music is readily available or it's just a variant) that they're a dumb collector and don't like music simply because of the music. That's very narrow minded and assumes a great deal about the buyer that we can't possibly know. So, while it isn't my choice I hope whatever CEO/Secret Millionaire/college kid that does it really thinks hard about their expensive purchase and really enjoys it.

• Dropkick Murphys lead singer, Al Barr, apologized for an offensive statement he uttered in a video promo for the Punk & Disorderly Festival in Berlin.
• Screeching Weasel frontman, Ben Weasel, engaged in a bizarre argument with Fat Mike of NOFX after claiming that the Fat Wreck Chords head honcho "has a beef with me that I don't understand".
• If you were ever feeling nostalgic about your favorite pop rock radio jams from the 90s now is the time to relive those glory days because Everclear, Sugar Ray, Lit, Gin Blossoms, and Marcy Playground are heading to a city near you.
• Damian Abraham of Fucked Up is being attacked by an army of "Katy Cats" after criticizing pop singer, Katy Perry, for "glamorizing war" in her latest music video.
• A brand new song from Hot Water Music from their upcoming album surfaced on the internet.
• You can wipe your tears away if you were one of the many who did not acquire a ticket for a Refused reunion show because the band announced a handful of new dates with Keith Morris' (Black Flag / The Circle Jerks) influential new act, OFF!.
• Derek Perry of Fake Problems released a non-related Fake Problems song about "DIY Punx".

Q: Today is a new month. I hope you flipped over a new page as I did. Who is on your calender?

A: I have a How I Met Your Mother calendar and for all of March I had to look at Ted which was unfortunate because for being the main character of the show he annoys the living crap out of me with his whining. Now I get to look at Robin for the rest of April which really just means I'll be cracking a bunch of Canada jokes but that's ok because that's what I'm used to from working at Punknews anyway.

Q: Why do american bands that tour Europe only play in like England, France and/or Germany. If they come to Scandinavia, they play in Stockholm or Copenhagen. What about Norway? Don't you like us? Some of us are pretty cool, I promise! A: This is probably just a market thing. If you're not incredibly popular overseas you're probably sticking to the main areas, with a lot of people and centers where people go. It's the same reason why every band that tours comes through San Francisco and not San Jose (just 60 miles south).

That said, Scandia has some sweet mini-golf, I hear.
