• This year's Honda Civic Tour was announced, with Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance slated to appear on the run
• Elway got into some potentially hot water with THE Elway, and issued us an exclusive statement that's been the talk of the lockout-plagued National Football League.
• Rancid will record a new album in September, their eighth overall
• Living With Lions stuck to their guns and returned the government funding for their controversial album artwork rather than change it
• A slew of acts were added to the monolith that is The Fest 10

A: No pressure at all, though it was a halfway conscious effort to bring more females to the editing staff. Regardless of gender, our new editors are great and were qualified. We're excited to have them on the team.

Q: do you think there is a loss of artistic integrity when bands release the same songs over and over again? in other words do you think that musicians as artists have some sort of ethical responsibility to be trying to new things musically and artistically? A: It really depends on what the band intends to accomplish as artists, and what the fans want. A lot of bands have a tried and true formula, they stick to it, it works well for them and their fans and that's that. Pennywise, for example, hasn't done much to their formula over the years and their fanbase hasn't really waned, nor would it seem the members of the band aren't fulfilled as artists. A more contemporary example would be Teenage Bottlerocket, a band that's arguably more popular now than they've ever been. There's nothing wrong with that approach if the band and fans are happy with it.

Q: If people debate about who started punk and the Ramones had their song "Judy Is A Punk" in 1974 and there's CBGB video evidence like there is on YouTube and they play so much faster than the Sex Pistols why isn't the argument ended? A: Blah blah everyone's definition of punk is different. THIS IS OKAY. One could perhaps go back even farther, to bands like MC5, Stooges, etc. but what would the point be? The answer doesn't have to be so goddamn definitive.
