Less than six months after the band hired her to replace founding bassist Kim Deal, Pixies have fired bassist Kim Shattuck. Shattuck, who of course also fronts The Muffs, confirmed the news over the weekend via Facebook:

Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.

Pixies have yet to publicly comment on Shattuck's dismissal from the band, nor have they announced who will be playing bass for them going forward. The band recently released EP1 , their lone recorded output with Shattuck, and have an extensive North American tour lined up for early next year with support on select dates from Fidlar, Best Coast and Cults.
