Long running San Diego, California venue the Che Cafe currently faces the possibility of being shut down by this current school year's end. The future of the venue, located on the campus of and funded by UC: San Diego, will be voted on this Monday at 11 a.m. by the University Centers Advisory Board. The board will vote on whether or not to include the maintenance cost of the venue in their budget for next year.
Various groups in the Southern California independent music scene have banded together to help keep the venue going and illustrate the establishment's necessity as a cultural institution. Some efforts have included a petition as well as a huge presence at the impending vote this Monday. We'll post updates as the situation progresses.
