| Gorilla Biscuits / Black Train Jacklive in New York2005 live show Review by: eddiecash See others by this writer Only registered users can post comments Published on August 16th 2005
About halfway through the Gorilla Biscuits set, Civ told the packed CBGBs crowd they were going to be playing everything...everything. So if you want a set list, look at the back of their albums because they pretty much played it all. It was nearly an hour and a half of pure bliss.

Just thought I'd say... I'm from Colombia, South America. I waited for 15 hours just to see those guys. What did I get? Gorilla Biscuits at CBGB's, front row... holy crap. I got to sing a few words on the mic. Then I lost about to hours in subway traffic cause there was no way to go to queens... do i regret it? no fucking way What the fuck, I'm 31 and saw biscuits twice....and I'm from the netherlands. This band changed my life! Could someone e-mail the whereabouts of the Black Train Jack video? Last time I saw them was in Syracuse, NY, back in 1994, in an opening spot for Sick of it All. Great show, and BTJ had all the Earth Crisis kids going nuts. did they have fall out boy come on stage to help them with their songs? im sorry if you didnt get into punk rock until you were 25. "GB broke up before I'd ever heard of them. From what I understand, Start Today came out when I was in 8th grade. I'm 30 now." "how are you 30 yrs old and never heard of gorilla biscuits???" i've got the gb's cbgb's set on my comp. how are you 30 yrs old and never heard of gorilla biscuits??? scroll down a bit...there's a link to where it was posted. i'm not sure if it still works, but it's worth a try. (it was also posted in the original news article about the GB show) Man, did anyone record the GB set on their computer? Just heard the CIV song "Wait One Minute More" on a Nissan radio commercial. Yeesh. That was a great record though. "We need to see the BLACK TRAIN JACK set so badly ... someone recorded it?!?! I`d kill for it!" she's not even into them. she think she'll be able to stand there and enjoy the show. she doesn't know what she is in for. "how so douche bag?" I only saw the stream, but other than everyone looking older ( I imagine) and weirder (Wally?) things were no different back in 1987/88 in terms of stage presence and the "mob" going wild. Gorilla Biscuits used to get a lot of heat back in 1987/ 88, but I am glad they are getting the tremendous amount of respect they earned and rightfully deserve. My score is for the show, not the review. Why did you even put Black Train Jack in the review heading when you didn't even see them? Here's my review of the show: how so douche bag? Hahahaha... You're an idiot. Is CBs about the size of Maxwells??? Going for the KD show on Monday...just curious because a girl is coming with us and I dont think its a good idea. The place is going to erupt and I think she can get hurt. I'd take a trip to Toronto just to see Career Suicide and Fucked Up play. Two of the best newer hardcore punk bands I can think of. Score is for the "finger pointing" in the NY scene. I don't like people pointing at me, personally. Not only do those areas of OUR country produce hardcore more competent than that fucking H20 bullshit, just take a look at Sweden and Japan right now.. admit it toughguy, NYHC is general pretty weak stuff. I am the "fucking idiot," and I say good "harcore" or whatever rife misspelling you chose comes from: Score is for sentence fragments. score is for the fool who had never didn't like GB because he had hyped them up too much in his head before he heard them. go and listen to motion city soundtrack you fuckhead Exactomundo! Not to mention, Minnie's Extreme Noise is probably the best hardcore music store in the midwest, if not the whole fuckin' country. The Midwest and Minneapolis (especially Havoc Records stuff) has the best hardcore punk/crust I can think of. Just look at: PS- How can you deny how great Minneapolis' scene is? Well, I thought we were talking about hardcore... Oakland? Minneapolis? Philly is a fucking joke, just like the Eastern Seaboard. Minneapolis, MN and Oakland, CA are where it's at. Philly. for the last comment.. ok asshole, where is all the good harcore coming from theese days? fucking idiot Y'know, without getting nostalgic, NYHC is pretty lame, the good Leftover Crizzack aside. most of that shit is stupid meathead stuff. Think Warzone, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Murphy's Law.... lame. What is it with you NY/Boston dudes, that you can't come up with competent hardcore? I think it's a pretty good review, just lacking comment on the opening bands. A monumental show featuring one of the most legendary hardcore bands ever, a one time only reunion which took place as part of a historic effort to save CBGB's, and this is the review you posted? We need to see the BLACK TRAIN JACK set so badly ... someone recorded it?!?! I`d kill for it! I was at this show. 16 hours in line, but definitely worth it My score is for whoever posted the link to the .zip file of the GB set. Thank you, my friend. so fucking amazing i wish i could relive that night every night. attention revelation records: please release this on DVD. take all of the profits and put it back into CBGB's. Is the set available for download anywhere? watched then downloaded the webcast. yes sir. Man, even the webcast was fucking amazing. It was like, More then an hour long, and I thought perhaps it would drag through someparts, but it didn't, it would've been awesome to be there. The pit looked brutal, straight out of the oldschool, with a bunch of sweaty kids packed into club with a low cieling. fistchode: maybe you just suck! I downloaded the webcast, and when I watched it, it really didn't do much for me. Perhaps because before that I've never heard their music before? Or maybe I hyped them up in my head too much. I would of loved to seen this. So, how was Black Train Jack? Something about a 30 year old using the phrase "sick" seems odd... This review should just read "Fuck yeah." and leave it at that. oh, and no score for this review. you suck for not being able to review the almighty BTJ. all fine, but you can't graduate on a reunion. that is sucky. i never pumped my fist in the air while sitting in front of my computer until i saw this webcast. I saw the webcast, so amazing, anyone who was there, consider yourself lucky, you witnessed a once in a lifetime show. i saw this on a web cast. i was sitting in front of my comp in the middle of the afternoon(i live on the w.c.) shouting along to all the songs. It was great. I am very jealous of you. Holy fucking shit! Everything, hmmmm.... The stream is incredible. Terrific show. i wished i saw that show |
