A great man once said, "Nobody ever lost money from lowballing the intelligence of the average American." The new Fall Out Boy record, Infinity on High, is a guaranteed example of this.

sub par and far too serious to be taken seriously. boy band-ish melodies aren't completely off-putting, but it makes "take this to your grave" era fall out boy all the more enjoyable. it's not all bad, but fall out boy has done better fucking sell outs. been to one of their shows? fucking great energy and great performance but unless you want to get trampled by 10,000 "Mrs Wentz" t-shirt wearing "emo" chicks then stay away. They were so much better pre-FUCT release. Pete Wentz is to some degree some sort of lyrical genius buta band who was only ever BORDERLINE punk, they're now not a far cry from being a new tattooed and black eyeliner wearing N-SYNC! What a total shame! I was going to come on here and say all the negative things about them that I could think of, but I dont even think it's worth it. i can see the pre adolescent "I must be emo" fans coming out and attacking me already! Even months after the release of Infinity On High, I'm not that excited about it. I love fall out boy, for the wit of the songs on Evening Out, and Take This To Your Grave being a solid record. but this? I'm not sure, there are some good points, there are some good songs, but it wentz's lyrics are entirely lacking. It's not very witty or clever compared to where the band was at a few years ago. This CD was ok some songs were big disappointments. I understand song and sound changes, but they sold out. Now everywhere you look Pete's face is there. WHERE THE HELL IS THE REST OF THE FUCKING BAND!?!?!? PETE WENTZ IS NOT FALL OUT BOY!!!! Every time I see a picture of them Pete's so fucking close to the camera that everyone else is blurry! WHAT THE FUCK!!! Hey jackasses Fall Out Boy rocks ok.... so just shut ur fuckin mouths and go jump off a bridge while ur at it. fall out boy sucks balls. these emo pussys are the biggest posers ever, they should stop making music then go cut themselves why does anybody give a sh!t abut who dates who!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! pete can date who ever the f*ck he wants! anybody who thinks he's gay or something is nothing but a mother f*cker whore of a jelous b**tard!!! and needs to get a f*cking life!!!! and grow up!!!! pete has a great life and is very blessed!!! i usually dont cuss btu everybody here just p!sses me off!!! only the HATERS THOUGH!!! stop trying to make us SUPPORTERS think otherwise!!!! u cant control us and the way we think!!! so u know what!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!????????????!!!!!!!? !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! go 2 mother f**king he!! b!t3he$!!!! why does anybody give a sh!t abut who dates who!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! pete can date who ever the f*ck he wants! anybody who thinks he's gay or something is nothing but a mother f*cker whore of a jelous b**tard!!! and needs to get a f*cking life!!!! and grow up!!!! pete has a great life and is very blessed!!! i usually dont cuss btu everybody here just p!sses me off!!! only the HATERS THOUGH!!! stop trying to make us SUPPORTERS think otherwise!!!! u cant control us and the way we think!!! so u know what!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!????????????!!!!!!!? !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! go 2 mother f**king he!! b!t3he$!!!! I liked the last 2 fob albums, even so from under the cork tree demonstrated that they were selling out...anyway, it was an very good album, where the first 3 musics stucked in the head sooo easily. and the lyrics were good. This album is worse and even more commercial and my patience reached the limit...like my chemical romance, they get more and more commercial whit each album, and fob got worse and dumber. many songs give me the felling "a have already heard it", stump´s voice sometimes is incredibly "pop-sounding" and the whole album is over-produced. it´s ironic that the first songs criticize the critics of the bands and this is their poppiest album to date...not enough, they have a hip-hop/r&b/any-nowadays-crap single...fucking assholes. and there are not any music that stuck in the head like the last album singles...and more, there arent really many specials lines in the lyrics like before... well jesse "boy band" means that they sing sappy love songs...and dance.....fall out boy is not a boy band!!! backstreet boys, nsync, 98 degress are boy bands u dumb ass!!! TO god christ motherfukers. Who the f*** do u think u r? !!! never did i think any body would ever say " fall out boy sucks!" like u just did! u odvisously dont know what is good music and what is not! fall out boy is great music! Who the hell is the person who reviews the new cds that come out??? And why is he comparring fall out boys new cd to blink 182??? Is this person insane??? He is making it sound like fob should sound like blink 182.... News flash there will never be another blink, just like there will never be another elvis presley!!! every band has there own sound, i don't care if it is counrty, rap, or even rock, there well always be songs about girls, sex, drugs, and heartbreak and everyhting in between!!!! and plus i can understand everything that the lead singer is saying, maybe you should clean the wax out of your ears.... Oh never mind your brain might leak out if you do.... Fall out boy rock!!! and screw anyone who say other wise! Best album.. The messages you get from the lyrics are abounding & high-minded... The band is the best ever because they stand up for what they believe and aren't in the business for the money... I can't wait I got tickets to their May 12th concert.. Row T =( OKAY FallOutBoy PWNS!! u ppl are weird!!! THEY ARE THE BEST BAND EVER!! along with The Academy Is!!! im going to their concert and its going to be INSAAAANNNEEEEE!!!! if you guys don't like FOB u obviously just don't know good music....psshhh you ppl are FREAAAAKKKKSSS!!! what kind, any kind, of punk band starts out their album with some rapper offering "shout-outs"? WTF is this even doing on "punknews.org." If you want punk, buy Reinventing Axl Rose instead. Fob new cd is the best!! Fall Out Boy’s new album is great. There are some great interviews and music videos of their new album on mtvU.com. Here is the link: I love fall out boy pete is hot and i love there video "this aint a sceen, its an arm race. This album for me is like Good Charlotte's "Chronicles Of Life And Death" that after the success of "Young and Hopeless" GC came up with a boring and empty album,, is almost the same with the new cd of FOB, it is boring some of the songs sound the same and are pointless, maybe a couple of good songs,, It sucks because their first two albums are great but this is a big disappointment... Anyone hating on this band (or any other) for any reason besides the fact they don't like the music, is a fucking fool. I've been a Fall Out Boy fan since the release day of Take This To Your Grave and I have to say, this is, in my opinion, the best album the boys have ever made. Say what you will, but you can tell they put a hell of a lot of energy into this (especially Patrick Stump, who can only be described as "insane" here) and I believe the results are more diverse, mature, and catchy than any past release Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 12, 2007 at 9:29 PM (EST) Im a HUGE fan of FOB I'm a huge FOB I did not like this album it was just disponting I'm a huge FOB I did not like this album it was just disponting I'm a huge FOB I did not like this album it was just disponting A bigger map of mainstream garbage! Hence the crappiness of mainstream music. Screw the fact that I'm a big fan of the band, cause even if it was the first time I heard of this band, I would've bought the record. Infinity On High still does not beat Take This To Your Grave, but these boys made a hell of an album. If you love sounds of the 80s and early 90s, you shouldn't really have a problem. Most bands and artists have tried to fuse rock and hip hop together, or rock and R'nB together but ended up with a record that sounds just the same as the genre they started with in any case. This album did exactly that, and you can hear the different genres they used instead of one. They didn't produce an R'nB album which some people expected to happen. If you had really high expections or devastatingly low expections on this album, you're bound to be dissapointed or change your mind. If there's something the guys are good at doing, it's making records that are a lot different from the last one, which is awesome. I'm sick of buying some bands' records and basically hear the same stuff as the last record and think, I might as well downloaded this instead of buying it at the store. Unlike the last album, this one is not about Pete Wentz only, it's also about the three other guys he shares this band with. There may be some faulties in this record, but at the end of it, it's one of the best records that will put this band on an even bigger map. pick up a Black Flag or Fugazi album and stay away from this crap Herny Rollins or Tony Victory who would win a fight to the death tracks 7 and 8 are probably the best songs fall out boy have ever released. the jury is still out on the rest of the album though, i found myself skipping a lot of tracks i have only heard two song of there new cd but i love them What a piece of shite. Laughably bad. They seem like something someone would make up as a parody of Fall Out Boy, it's just so asinine. I'm confused...why would anybody buy a Fall Out Boy CD in the first place? "what happened to the actual "good" stuff?" this album is the epitome of ridiculousness. what happen to Grande Jumper >>>i would get a refund and use the money to buy a metallica, panera,or led zeppelin cd before you commit suicide. sounds like a generic version of Rites of Spring meets a poppy version of Ian Mackaye sounds like a generic version of Rites of spring meets a poppy version of Ian Mackaye Dude, if someone was to ask me who is the gayest band ever, i would respond either panic! at the disco or fall out boy. punk rock is the biggest insult on musicans ever, with few exceptions(like ranicd, matt freeman is an animal). this insult usually isnt that big of a deal, until you come along fall out boy. you find yourself wondering how someone could even get a gig at a bar, let alone what they have acomplished already. this band is overrated more than any band ever. if you someone get coned into purchasing one their albums, i would get a refund and use the money to buy a metallica, panera,or led zeppelin cd before you commit suicide. Score is for grealy's comment. whatever happened to "The Pros And Cons Of Breathing" Fallout Boy? This review was accually pretty accurate except for the "14 year olds are gonna eat this album up" part. Cuz it's the pop loving preps that are gonna make this album big, and most of them are like.....17 the fall out boys are laughing all the way to the bank. they couldn't care less about the feedback generated from spoon-feeding this poop to the masses. they're booking tv shows, tours, selling a ton of records, buying fancy cars and houses....good for them? this record is bad, bad, bad. the jayz intro is pathetic. my girlfriend loves it though! so there's always that? i threatened to use her disc as a coaster for my ice cold beck's last nite...she was not amused. To the guy below me: http://www.metacritic.com/music/artists/falloutboy/infinityonhig h Comparing Fall Out Boy to Blink-182 is like comparing Hitler to Bush. They both suck, but one sucks substantially more than the other. When I saw FOB a couple of years ago, I was wearing my larry arms t-shirt. FOB's merch guy came up to me and was talking to me about how amazing the larry arms were. He also got me a free pint. I'll admit Under The Cork Tree was fairly empty fun, this isn't generic it just isn't done very well. If you want good interesting pop music check out some of Of Montreal's work, Belle & Sebastian or hell even The Format. There just isn't any need for a record like this. This band is such a joke. Just make them go away, PLEASE! this record isn't that bad. it's not that good, but in musical terms i'm sure anyone of you would rather listen to this than beyonce, nelly furtardo or any of the other bands in the billboard top 10. to get all punk police on this album is about as constructive and worthwhile as bum-puffing a cigarette. Even FOB fans hate this. "Wentz is the new Billy Corgan" that is the lamest album cover I have seen in a long time. whoever wrote this is about gay the question would be what innovative thing has this band done to be that highly praised um, some of their songs are catchy i admit that but theres a difference between being catchy and doing thins half-assed as some say, in my opinion for a record to be good it has to have great lyrics complemented by great music, as yes i agree that some people dont even pay attention to the lyrics, well im one of the persons that does, its better when a song says something worthwhile than when its just a hollow song with no real content behind them, my guess everyone who loves this band will bash the people that are honest about what they think of this record, its just another pop-punk album that apprently tryes to do too many things and fails miserably, i like a wide variety of music genre so its kind of stupid when a person says the reviewer was biased as i read listened to the record with and open mind, what this band finally tryes to do is only appeal to the mtv crowd nothing more than that, and only adds more fuel to the fire in the obsession wit beauty ! Fall Out Boy are great punk rockers Do any other users see 10 really really good albums under "People who liked this also like..." and are really kind of disturbed by that? me and you sounds like maroon 5 and I like that. Yea FuckYou OiOiOi... Blink was the shit... enema remains my all time favorite record. Obviously this record will be no where near it. ever since i heard "chicago is so two years ago" in 2003, i was hooked on take this to your grave but my passion for the band slowly declined from there. from under the cork tree had two or three good songs, but this...this is the metaphoric final nail in their coffin. congratulations fall out boy for contributing tho the already dying music scene. and a special thanks goes out to mr. wentz himself killing my best friend. this royal piece of shit doesn't deserve a score. fall out boy, you had me at the start but you have now fallen almost to the level of avenged sevenfold. eyes closed...ears open. Thanks Paul, very refreshing :) Ok, I've listened to it a bunch of times. hey everybody! music isn't as objective as you'd like it to be. the question would be what innovative thing has this band done to be that highly praised um, some of their songs are catchy i admit that but theres a difference between being catchy and doing thins half-assed as some say, in my opinion for a record to be good it has to have great lyrics complemented by great music, as yes i agree that some people dont even pay attention to the lyrics, well im one of the persons that does, its better when a song says something worthwhile than when its just a hollow song with no real content behind them, my guess everyone who loves this band will bash the people that are honest about what they think of this record, its just another pop-punk album that apprently tryes to do too many things and fails miserably, i like a wide variety of music genre so its kind of stupid when a person says the reviewer was biased as i read listened to the record with and open mind, what this band finally tryes to do is only appeal to the mtv crowd nothing more than that, and only adds more fuel to the fire in the obsession wit beauty ! 'i believe that i gave it a fair chance. i listened to it, didn't i? it seems like you're trying to include people who would write off this record without even listening to a second of it simply because it's fall out boy with the ones who did listen to it and didn't enjoy it, which is weird. you're creating a bond between arrogance based on opinion to an at least partial attempt at objectivity. then again, based on your writing structure and style, i'd assume you're an early level high school student so you're not ready for that sort of argument intellectually just yet' revenge therapy, you seem to be telling me that so long as a record is pop music, it should be allowed to have shitty lyrics because that's the going standard these days, as if pandering to the lowest common denominator is acceptable. if you think that's right, then you should really get a job in marketing or a&r. It really isn't a good album. It sounds like they lost their direction of where they wanted to take the album. It's not even good pop This thread reminds me why I hate humanity. wow....this album suprised me, it actually has a lot of depth to it. "anyway, back to rocking out to the the newest NFG album, now THAT'S true punk." ah, thanks Brian... in that case i gotta give you a lot of props Colin, even though you shit on this thing, you knew it was gonna cause a shitstorm and you did it anyway... good for you. Doofus. the reason pete wentz's lyrics need to be taken seriously in a review is because they are going to be taken seriously by those who listen to the record. there are going to be stupid kids who get this shit tattooed on their future love handles using daddy's credit card and a fake id. once again, Colin reviews the album that everyone knows will get a really low score why do bother reviewing this at all? are you going to review the daughtry record too? of course you'll give this record a crap review, but you know what? fob didn't record it with any intention of getting a "punk" following. they're a straight pop band, they've got no bones about it, and are doing quite well going in the area they're shooting for. they don't pretend to be part of any "punk" scene so why even pay attention? why do bother reviewing this at all? are you going to review the daughtry record too? of course you'll give this record a crap review, but you know what? fob didn't record it with any intention of getting a "punk" following. they're a straight pop band, they've got no bones about it, and are doing quite well going in the area they're shooting for. they don't pretend to be part of any "punk" scene so why even pay attention? These comments are gold. I'm not sure what else to add. I've gleaned far more enjoyment out of reading you folks bitch than I got from listening to this record. I think it's amazingly overlooked on this board that the singer has a fantastic voice. Despite the music's blandness, that part of it really shines here. fall out boy is the WORST band ever.i listend to the album and it was horiable.i couldnt stand it. fall out boy and panic at the disco suck.pete wentz is one of the worst bassists ever. Dude, Colin, go home already revenge therapy: it wouldnt be really fair for me to rate this album seeing as i've only heard a few songs. From what I've heard, i won't go as far to say the songs are terrible, but they're pretty much unlistenable for me. I'll admit that i really like take this to your grave and still listen to it alot, but it seems that after they signed to island ,fob just lost what made them good. I'd never heard Fallout Boy before, so I checked them out yesterday, and it seemed like average pop stuff, but nothing to get worked up about and feel actual hate. for some reason I assumed Colin was staff, Sorry Colin, I am gonna go listen to lawrence arms now score is for the comment below me "they are doing something pretty original with fusing R&B with Punk Rock" I think Ignite's "Darkest Days" had the best flow of any album that came out in 2006 pop/punk music: The post by damnitsderek is probably the smartest thing said about this review. It really is a lose-lose situation. I think Colin did an honest review of the album. how'd you get stuck doing this review Colin? "stuff stuff stuff stuff You know, posting a review for an album like this is a double edged sword. If you post a review with any sort of praise whatsoever, you basically get roasted by every asshole on this site for "liking shitty music". However, if you trash it, you'll get rabble rabbled at in return for being biased, or for not listening to it, or for some other reason. "I thought this record was more of a statement rejecting the "scene" and what the media has portrayed them as. More of an honest record, this review sucks." This is exactly what i was thinking, it sucks to get suched biased bullshit from a reliable site, actually listen to the record. he lives in portland. Mr Anonymous, would you rather people only offer up one side of the story? This is not a Fall Out Boy fansite, so if you can't take criticism... weep and write another record as atrocious as this one. score is for all of you bitching. u are pathetic. if u dont like the band, than who cares about your opinion about how shitty they are. grow up. Some people see this review as pointless, but not me. I never listen to mainstream radio or watch MTV or Muchmusic so it gives me some kind of perspective as to what is popular vs "indie". 10 years ago one could review a Soundgarden album and it may have received the same flak, but probably not, it's a good example of how the mainstream alt-rock/punk scene has gone to shit. But on the other hand, mainstream has produced many great albums, that can be fun, accessible, danceable or whatever and still maintain artistic intergrity. Hell, most of my top 20 from 2006 is mainstream. "to be honest, i would really enjoy an album like this to be really good one of these days, so i can give it a good score just to watch all you fucktards bitch and moan and have pointless debates, instead of falling in line with the choir of how wasteful pop music is. there are gems out there, this just is not one of them. sorry if i pissed you off by taking the "easy way" and giving a record the score it deserves." "to be honest, i would really enjoy an album like this to be really good one of these days, so i can give it a good score just to watch all you fucktards bitch and moan and have pointless debates, instead of falling in line with the choir of how wasteful pop music is. there are gems out there, this just is not one of them. sorry if i pissed you off by taking the "easy way" and giving a record the score it deserves." "AHAHAHAHAHAAH fall out boy is awesome yay.... fall out boy rocks my pants woopie yay they are sooo cooll (crawling out from the rock I was living under) I agree with revenge therapy, there is no way Colin listened to this album going in thinking it would be good. Hey, guess what? I completely disagree with this review. I never, in the history of time, thought I'd ever stick up for Fall Out Boy, but I think this review is bullshit. It seems as though you went into this thinking "Oh, this is going to blow" and then listened to it once, read the lyrics and picked the damn thing apart. Someones user name is INDIE is BETTER THAN PUNK.. best stoner album of 2007. I thought this record was more of a statement rejecting the "scene" and what the media has portrayed them as. More of an honest record, this review sucks. I'm confused as to why the reveiwer, Colin, is getting so much shit and why so many people are sticking up for fall out boy. This is very puzzling to me. I think pete wentz has a really good screaming voice on the new record. He should sing (scream) more. I dont understand why so many people are hating on them because they are doing something pretty original with fusing R&B with Punk Rock. You guys should suck on a bag of dicks! just light up an L and listen to this album with the lights off....best stoner album of 2007. I think pete wentz has a really good screaming voice on the new record. He should sing (scream) more. You guys should suck on a bag of dicks! just light up an L and listen to this album with the lights off....best stoner album of 2007. your metaphor about fall out boy and brand new as types or girls is troubling. millisecpwned on this one, but i'm glad it was brought up; while responding to anonymity isn't my deal much, there's some good debate going around. "This is the most vain, self-indulgent trash I have heard in such a long time" i usually dont agree with you colin, but you're dead on. not only did you review the album fairly, but you pointed out the huge flaws that most people will not see. I liked fall out boy for about 4 years - until this record came out. The review is accurate in respect to how I feel about this record. seeing as how the only FOB i've heard is the videos that come on while i'm at the gym i decided to give the AOL stream of this a shot....EVERY 20 seconds there's this voice that comes on and says "new album Infinity on High available February 6th", not just the first track but the whole thing, now that's ridiculous Nonetheless, while I respectfully disagree with your opinion of the album, this is a very colorful review. I enjoy it, especially the line about the Sidekick. I just bought this album, alongside the new Lifetime. the reviewer needs to take some of his own advice and pull his head out of his ass. pete wentz is being vain? he pal, you just gave a pretty solid pop record a mediocre score to maintain your "cred" you're reviewing on a fucking message board. how about you get off your high horse? I can't wait till the day when everybody hates the band...just like limp bizkit "anyone who doesnt have the raspy none more black or lawrence arms voice is labelled crap and you know, not EVERYTHING has to have screaming in it. I think it was plain retarded to try and apply standards to a pop punk album that it can never live up to, its FALL OUT BOY, yes its poppy, with guitars and Patricks smooth smooth voice. I'm going to ask nicely now, get over it! " does colin only review shitty bands because this is actually what he listens to? he just gives them all low ratings seeking the approval of everyone on this website? it's getting annoying. score is for Simpsons movie opening in July. i mean less than 2 years after their last album, not their debut. I'll come clean, I'm a huge fan of pop punk and I'm 26. I got dude ranch when I was 17, dookie when I was 14 and life in general around 18. I now have 600 some pop punk songs in my itunes. I love the genre, I don't care if 90% of the songs are about chicks, I don't care. Its catchy, its fun. I love the first 2 fall out boy records. Good review. I did hear the album (it was available for free on bittorrent) and it's just as worthless as colin makes it out to be, you can feel the monstrous ego of Pete W sucking all credibility/creativity out of this band. You know, I cant tell which is worse, the fact that not one person who visits this website gave this album a fair chance, or that you actually reviewed this album here, where thousands of people who wouldnt touch the pop punk genre with a barge pole could rip it to shreds. Thats like throwing Paris Hilton into a moshpit at a Metallica show...very predictable. I've seen the reviews colin writes, anyone who doesnt have the raspy none more black or lawrence arms voice is labelled crap and you know, not EVERYTHING has to have screaming in it. I think it was plain retarded to try and apply standards to a pop punk album that it can never live up to, its FALL OUT BOY, yes its poppy, with guitars and Patricks smooth smooth voice. I'm going to ask nicely now, get over it! They didn't write this album for asses who dont believe its a moshpit until someones bleeding from the head from a flying spinning kick, they wrote it for people who like a catchy song, something to dance to that doesnt have a driving base going through the entire thing. They wrote it for people who enjoy guitar, easy pop punk guitar that in years to come will reminds them of the 11th grade. Why you reviewed this album is lost on me. I am an old school fall out boy fan, take this to your grave was awesome. I also happen to love none more black, the lawrence arms and probably a crap more bands that most of the people who trashed this album like too. All I'm saying is...review it for what it is and what it claims to be, fall out boy never said they were a hardcore band trying to write lyrics that'll change the world. If he gave it a higher score, I wouldn't want to listen to it. But, after hating that single soooooo much, I have a morbid curiosity about the rest of the record. where is your boy tonight? I hope he is a gentleman. SKA HA HA HAHAH A HAHAHA HAHA! My roomate and I would listen to that song on repeat and laugh ourselves drunk. Fall Out Boy doesn't know it, but they're writing the same joke pop jams that Ace of Bace and La Bauche wrote |
