Vinyl File: Hot Water Music test press winners and upcoming releases
You're the lucky reader of the 34th edition of the Punknews.org Vinyl File. This column aims to keep you informed with upcoming releases as well as spotlighting interesting releases, your favorite bands' own collections and labels with a history of vinyl releases worth talking about.
This week we're excited to announce the winner of a test pressing of Hot Water Music's latest collection, Til the Wheels Fall Off, which is out now on No Idea Records. It has a special red version of the tour pressing cover and is limited 1 of 20. Not only that, it also comes with a poster signed by the band.

This latest contest was the most popular we've run over at Vinyl File. With close to 300 entries, it's too bad that there could only be one winner, but it's not too bad for Kevin Day of Collingswood, NJ. Congratulations and thanks to everyone that entered.

No Idea Records is running an auction in order to raise funds for J. Robbins' son. Cal Robbins was born with a serious genetic condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Many of the treatments available to the family are not covered by health insurance, thus the family can use a few extra dollars.
No Idea is auctioning off a number of test presses and promises more to come. The hottest item is a test pressing for Against Me!'s Reinventing Axl Rose, which comes with a special cloth cover. Other items include test pressings from Hot Water Music, Less Than Jake, Chuck Ragan and Latterman. For the complete list, check here.
No Idea also has new copies of the Ampere/Ringers split 7". You can get one of 485 grayish blue copies from the website.
Red Leader is releasing a special limited edition hand numbered 10" picture disc (limited to 500) next month. The release features a number of bands such as Nakatomi Plaza, Scream Hello, The New Dress and Attica! Attica! covering songs from bands such as Built to Spill, Superchunk, The Carter Family and The Mountain Goats. You can pre-order the record here.
Some people have been complaining that their copy of the recent reissue of Alkaline Trio's Goddamnit has been skipping. Never one to stiff customers, Asian Man has announced that they have pressed a new run of the record on 180g black vinyl. The label is asking those with problem copies to send the record back to get a full refund, including shipping, or send the record (just the record) back and ask for a replacement. As we recently announced, Japan's Envy and New Jersey's Thursday will be releasing a split LP/CD this fall through Temporary Residence. The release will be limited and will include a more limited version that will only be available through the label and will feature screen printed covers and colored vinyl.
Protest the Hero released Fortress a little while ago, but it's only making its vinyl appearance now. It will be available an at least black, purple and clear vinyl. However, vinyl from Vagrant releases has been coming on all sorts of smaller runs of "in between" colors as well, so you might want to keep your eyes open for those.
Remember KMFDM? The industrialists have just released the second in their "24/7" series which will see them releasing a 7" every month for two years. Each edition features tracks from original 12" singles and albums and will be limited to 250 copies on white vinyl. The band says there will only be the one pressing. Each record is pressed on 70g virgin vinyl with two color center labels housed in a picture jacket. They're a little on the expensive side, but if you want one, check here.
Jailhouse Records have announced that they will be re-releasing Back From the Pink Room from Pink Lincolns. The record will be limited to clear vinyl /250, white/pink swirls /250 and a special color limited to 100 and hand-numbered. All records will be on 180g vinyl. The label also promises to throw a test press into 10 of the 100 pre-orders. Those aren't bad odds!
Jailhouse is also about to get the Moral Crux vinyl club exclusive underway. They plan on releasing six vinyl-only reissues from the band. The series will be limited to 100 members with members voting on colors. For more information on all the Jailhouse goings on, click here.
The Wonder Years have announced a 7" of new material to be released soon. The first pressing will be of 500 copies on orange, brown and purple vinyl that will feature silk-screened covers. If you're interested in ordering, you can do so here.
Bomp! Records is repressing The Big Come Up from The Black Keys. 500 copies of yellow vinyl and 500 copies of pink vinyl. You can purchase the album from the Bomp! store.
Fans of HBO's wonderful comedy Flight of the Conchords can soon own a piece of music from the band on vinyl. Sub Pop is now taking pre-orders on the band's new self-titled LP. The 15-track album features all kinds of songs full of hilarity. Check it out here.
A Wilhelm Scream has been spreading the word that their most recent effort, Career Suicide, will be seeing a vinyl release car of Asscard Records in Germany. The first pressing will be of 1000 split evenly between marble grey and yellow vinyl. Pre-orders will soon be available from Jumpstart Records.
Forge Against Records will be releasing Boys Night Out's Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses. The label plans on doing 400 more copies of the record with 300 on 180g black vinyl and 100 on baby blue vinyl.
The Redwalls' have started taking pre-orders for their upcoming self-titled LP. It's available exclusively over at Vinyl Collective which will also give you a chance to win a test pressing of the album.
Anti-Flag's just-released The Bright Lights of America will be getting a vinyl release. A-F Records has said that pre-orders for the record will be available shortly.
H2O will be releasing a new album on Bridge 9, but will be kicking their relationship with their new label off with a 7" EP titled Still the Same Fellas, limited to 1,000 copies.
Jay Reatard has just kicked off his new 7" series on Matador Records. The first record of the series is available for ordering now and features the songs "See Saw" and "Screaming Hand." Only 500 copies will be available, all of which can be ordered here.
Polyvinyl is now taking pre-orders for the new Joan Of Arc album, Boo Human. It's available on 180g black vinyl and can be ordered here.
