A few new or rare Joe Strummer recordings have arrived in the past month. Firstly, reggae star Jimmy Cliff recently released a new record titled Black Magic. It features the track "Over The Border," which was written and recorded by Cliff and Strummer. Joe frequently covered Cliff's hit "The Harder They Come" in his live sets and recorded the track for the Free The West Memphis 3 compilation.
Also, the October issue of Mojo Magazine (which hit stores in the UK on the 15th of September) features a cover-mounted CD with 15 "Clash-approved tracks" hand picked by Mick Jones and Paul Simonon. Among songs by Mikey Dread, the 101'ers and Television Personalities is an unreleased Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros recording of "White Man In Hammersmith Palais." It was recorded live at London's 100 Club on 27th October 2000.
Of course you'll find Clash features in many of the major music press this month and next due to the attention brought about by the 25th anniversary re-release of London Calling.
