Vaux has finished recording their new record (with the exception of the vocals, which will be tracked in January). The band has spent the past 5 weeks in the UK working with producer Garret Lee (U2, Snow Patrol) at Jacob's Studios in Farnham. Here's the update from their website:
We tracked all the music including but not limited to drums, bass, rhythm guitars, lead guitars, acoustic guitars, pianos, piano strings, organs, keyboards, glockenspiels, echoplex, a french radio, stomps, claps, a fire extinguisher, metal in the microwave, whippersnappers, ping-pong balls and all sorts of other random noises and beautiful sounds. We'd like to thank Garret "Jacknife" Lee, Dan "Crisps" Swift and Sam "Sha-mon" Bell for busting their asses 16 hours a day producing, engineering, pushing us to perform, sorting out our millions of ideas, cooking us Thanksgiving dinner, supporting our dirty habits, and being as sarcastic as we are. The eleven new songs sound amazing and far exceed all of our expectations. These tracks are a natural progression from both Plague Music and There Must Be Some Way To Stop Them. We couldn't be more excited for everyone to hear it. Quentin, the undisputed champion (he wishes) of ping-pong, will be returning to Garret's home studio in January to record the vocals. The album will then be immediately mixed by Garret Lee and Clive Goddard, bringing the recording process to a close. There also has been talk of additional string arrangements on the album. Jacob's studio has been a great place to lose track of time during the past five weeks. Every day seems to blend into the others. Thanks to Andy, Fran, Alice, and Will for their stellar hospitality and inviting us into their beautiful home. Its brilliant here. Excited as we are to go home…we are just as sad to be leaving.
