X country side project The Knitters kick off their August tour today. The band features X vocalist Exene Cervenka, singer/bassist John Doe, and drummer D.J. Bonebrake as well as the Blasters' guitarist Dave Alvin and upright bassist Jonny Ray Bartel. Earlier this summer the Knitters released The Modern Sounds of the Knitters, the 20-year-later follow up to the band's 1985 debut Poor Little Critter on the Road.
