MTV.com is reporting on some information regarding both of Story Of The Year's full-lengths.

Regarding the first, 2003's eponymous debut Page Avenue, lead singer Dan Marsala states:

It started to get to all of us, especially when that first record got lumped in with all of these new bands coming out that aren't really that good…Our first record wasn't really … I don't know … us. I mean … it had no feeling at all. People still loved the record, and that's awesome. But we didn't want to do that again. We wanted to sound like a real band.

In addition, Marsala talks about issues with producer John Feldmann, who normally fronts pop-punks Goldfinger and was responsible for Page Avenue's recording;

We'd kind of all decided we didn't want to work with Feldmann again, because we wanted to go for a different sound on the second record…[Producer Steve Evetts, who recorded the forthcoming 'In The Wake Of Determination'] let us do what we wanted to do. He didn't change us. Feldmann had originally changed our sound. All of his records have the same sort of sound, because he's always using the same formulas on everything.

As well, Marsala says the new album's recording was highly influenced by the positive vibe of old-school hardcore;

The last album, we had a lot of songs about dying…It was a recurring theme, but not on purpose. Drowning, stabbing -- dying. There's not a whole lot of that on this record. It's a more positive record. I listened to a lot of old-school hardcore, to get that positive hardcore feel, like Sick of It All, H20, Bane.

The band also has another track up for streaming. You can click here to check it out: "We Don't Care Anymore." In addition to that, the label has launched a Flash-based streaming player and AOL is hosting the album's first video for the next 24 hours and you can find that here: ""We Don't Care Anymore (video)".

In The Wake hits stores October 11th via Maverick.
