The Dead Boys, minus one Stiv Bators of course, will celebrate their 30th anniversary this Halloween at Cleveland's Beachland Ballroom. The gig, brought to you by the folks at Smog Veil Records, will feature the band's surviving original lineup, including Johnny Blitz (John Madansky), Cheetah Chrome (Gene O'Connor), Jeff Magnum (Jeff Halmagy) and Jimmy Zero (William Wilden). Technically this is the 30th anniversary of the first Halloween appearance of the band Frankenstein, a post-Rocket From The Tombs act who, upon relocating and reuniting in New York, would later be dubbed the Dead Boys. Cleveland act Amps II Eleven will open the show, which starts at 9:00 PM and will be $18.00 at the door. Check your local sources for tickets.
In 1990, long after the Dead Boys' original run was finished, frontman Stiv Bators was struck by a car and lost his life in Paris, France. On September 18th, 2004 the original members of the Dead Boys reunited for the first time at the Beachland since their split in `79. The band has only played together one other time since, on August 28th of this year at a Save CBGBs benefit concert.
