Green Day has posted the 9 minute cut of their video for "Jesus of Suburbia," the latest single from 2004's American Idiot. A fourteen minute version was also shot, but will not appear online until November 1st when it premieres on ifilm.
The clip was directed by Samuel Bayer, the same director responsible for the videos taken from the multi-platinum album as well as their upcoming DVD, Bullet in a Bible which is due out November 15th.
Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong recently explained the concept:
It's the new 'Thriller. 'Jesus of Suburbia' is really a long song, so already it's quite a task. You can't think of it as making a video, but a short film, and that's what Sam did. There's dialogue. It follows the story of the song more so than the other videos from American Idiot."
To realize the song, the band enlisted the aid of indie actor Lou Taylor Pucci who had appeared with "Wake Me Up When September Ends" star Jamie Bell in The Chumscrubber.
The video can be found on Myspace but as with previous myspace video releases, it can only be viewed with Internet Explorer.
