After numerous changes, Melvins have finally solified a new lineup by enlisting the aid of Hydrahead act, Big Business. That band released Head for the Shallow last year and the addition of the two piece gives the Melvins a new bassist and two drummers.
Current drummer Dale Crover had this to say about the unusual setup to Billboard:
He's left handed, so we want to do this 'mirror image' type of thing. We've kind of fused our two drum sets together, and we're going to try and do some crazy thing with it. We're sharing these big toms in between us
The band hopes to begin working on a new studio full length in the next year, but are planning a live CD which documents a recent performance of the entirety of their 1993 release, Houdini. In addition to the live album, the band will continue performing with Jello Biafra as they continue to support their collaborations with him: Never Breathe What You Can't See and Sieg Howdy!.
Melvins most recently issued Mangled Demos From 1983 which collected some of their earliest material onto a disc.
