After 13 years in business, Council Records is closing up shop. Over the years, the label released material from Current, Calvary, Ordination of Aaron, Yaphet Kotto, and Jihad.

For their final release, the label is planning a 7-inch EP from Chicago-based hardcore/punk act Short Con. The abum is available now. Label founder Matt Weeks had this to say:

In the ominous thirteenth year, for reasons far too numerous and personal to list, this is the end of Council Records. I know nothing of inspiration or motivation these days, nor do I wish to be the bearer of idle promises as they stretch on and out across the years
